Digitizing Tekka : The Birth of Tekka.sg

Say ‘Tekka’ and a few iconic things pop into mind – a whole array of colourful flower shops, crazy packed narrow lanes, 24-hour Mustafa center, and the very popular Maya Mohan tea spot in Tekka market.

We, especially Indians, may look at Tekka as an ordinary place to get our groceries or enjoy a simple indian meal but if we take a step back – we can see that it is somewhat stuck in its gritty past with subtle elements of modernity but hey, this frenetic messiness is the very charm of Tekka!

Lime pits, brick kilns and a race track once dotted the neighbourhood, and its streets thronged with herdsmen, merchants and garland makers plying their trade. Though these places and people might be gone, time stands still in pockets of this historic district. Olden day trades sit next to new businesses, perfectly blending traditions and modernity.

With the digital shift becoming inevitable, it is time to bring this new order to Tekka, also known as Little India. Digital transformation is creating an unprecedented opportunity for innovation across all industries – a total reinvention of products, services and experiences. Why should our historic districts be any different? .

Who is Tekka ?

We are a team made up of Tekka boys and Tekka girls.

Tekka.SG has been a long-term dream of our team. We have finally decided to kickstart the process with a small website that encapsulates all the businesses from Rochor Canal to Srinivasa Perumal temple. We would also like to expand the virtual space of Tekka.SG to any business that serves the Indian community. The digital world is limitless anyway – we’re not bounded by physical space or road intersections.

Become the change that you want to see in this world.
